EnterpriseWorks is the Research Park’s 43,000-square-foot business incubator for early-stage tech firms. It is operated by the University of Illinois to help launch successful startup companies. The 30-plus startups that occupy the office suites and labs at EnterpriseWorks showcase the potential of innovation in our community. Most, but not all, have a connection to the University. Some have been founded by staff, students, or faculty, while others have licensed technology from the UI.
Owned and operated by the University of Illinois to help launch successful startup companies, EnterpriseWorks is at the heart of the Research Park’s community building efforts. Its atrium is a hub of activity with weekly events open to all tenants such as training workshops and lectures by seasoned entrepreneurs. Most of the entrepreneur support services and resources that the park offers are facilitated by or at EnterpriseWorks, including the popular Entrepreneur-in-Residence program cited by Inc.com.
Events are open to the public, and there is a fee for mobile app development course; free consulting services (including ESRI Business Analytics Services) are limited to UI students, staff, faculty and incubator tenants and affiliates; student shared services program is available for incubator clients; incubator space is available for rent or clients may participate in our affiliate program. UI interns provide business development project support to incubator clients. The incubator has wet labs for lease and shared labs with equipment for all tenant use (e.g., liquid and gas chromatographs, mass spectrometer, centrifuges, deionized water system, pH/mV/°C meters, autoclave(s), glassware washer, -80° C Laboratory Freezer and other equipment). The incubator also has a server colocation room, and tenants can access world-class research and facilities at the University of Illinois (UI) via UI Sponsored Research Agreement, UI student practicums/project courses, UI Facility Use Agreement, and UI Technical Testing Agreement.
